Bookmatching arranges neighboring slabs so their veining mirrors across a seam. Natural variation means the patterns may not align perfectly.

The cut changes travertine’s appearance. Vein-cut slabs reveal long bands; cross-cut slabs show softer, curved patterns from the same layered stone.

Honed marble has a smooth, matte surface. Polishing reflects more light and makes the stone’s color and pattern more pronounced.
