SCOPE Template · Fabricate · Install

A restaurant countertop must support service speed, durability and the guest experience.

Guests notice the material, edge and finish. Employees depend on practical work zones, equipment openings, clean transitions, comfortable reach and reliable daily performance.

Bar tops and service counters should be coordinated with the millwork, equipment schedule, sinks, ice wells, POS systems, plumbing, seating, lighting and surrounding construction.

Sondos Stone handles the custom countertop fabrication and installation portion of qualifying hospitality projects.

SELECT THE SERVICE CONFIGURATION

Match the counter shape to staff movement and guest traffic.

CONFIGURATION 01

Simple guest access with an efficient service line.

Straight bars work well where guests approach from one primary direction and staff operate along a clearly defined beverage line.

Best for
Restaurants, taprooms and narrow hospitality spaces
Plan
Guest seating, bartender aisle and back-bar storage
Confirm
Overall length, seams and exposed finished ends
BARTENDER WORK ZONE
CONFIGURATION 02

Separate guest seating from service and pickup.

An L-shaped bar can establish distinct ordering, seating and service zones while increasing the available work surface.

Best for
Restaurants, hotels and larger hospitality concepts
Plan
Corner fabrication, staff circulation and POS placement
Confirm
Inside corner, seam direction and support conditions
POS
CONFIGURATION 03

Serve guests approaching from multiple directions.

A central island bar creates a strong architectural focal point and can support service along several sides.

Best for
Hotels, breweries, entertainment venues and large restaurants
Plan
Utilities, bartender entry, equipment and guest circulation
Confirm
Finished edges, radiuses, seams and installation access
CONFIGURATION 04

Coordinate ordering, espresso production and pickup.

Coffee counters require compact equipment planning, customer queue control and separate points for ordering and completed beverage pickup.

Best for
Coffee shops, bakeries, cafés and hotel markets
Plan
Espresso machine, grinders, sinks, POS and pickup zone
Confirm
Equipment dimensions, utilities and countertop openings

HOSPITALITY COUNTERTOP AREAS

More than the guest-facing bar top.

01

Commercial bar tops

Guest-facing bar surfaces may include seating overhangs, drink rails, waterfall ends, radiused corners, brass details and exposed finished edges.

  • Restaurant bars
  • Hotel lobby bars
  • Brewery tasting rooms
  • Private club bars
02

Host stands

Compact greeting counters with finished edges, POS openings and branding integration.

03

Server stations

Support surfaces for beverage preparation, silverware, POS and guest-service supplies.

04

Open-kitchen counters

Guest-facing pass counters and chef presentation surfaces within visible kitchens.

05

Coffee and bakery counters

Ordering counters, pastry displays, espresso stations and customer pickup surfaces.

06

Private dining bars

Smaller beverage counters and hospitality stations for event rooms and lounges.

HOSPITALITY MATERIAL REVIEW

Choose for appearance, service conditions and maintenance.

The correct material depends on whether the surface is guest-facing, food-service adjacent, exposed to citrus or alcohol, near heat, frequently wet or subject to intensive cleaning.

FOOD-SERVICE NOTICE

Surface selection and installation should comply with the approved project documents and applicable facility requirements. Sondos Stone does not determine health-department, food-safety or regulatory compliance for the completed restaurant assembly.

BAR SEATING & OVERHANGS

Coordinate the guest seat, counter edge and bartender aisle.

Bar seating should be planned around the full room, not only the stone depth. Counter height, stool size, guest legroom, support, aisle width, server traffic and accessible seating all affect the final design.

  • Confirm the intended number of seats
  • Review overhang and concealed support
  • Protect the employee service aisle
  • Coordinate accessible guest seating
  • Identify every exposed finished edge
