IN-HOUSE COUNTERTOP FABRICATION · JAMESTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA

Serving Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and the NC Triad

Your countertop is not ordered. It is built.

Sondos Stone measures, plans, cuts, shapes, finishes and installs custom quartz, granite, quartzite, marble and Dekton countertops for residential and commercial projects throughout central North Carolina.

FIELD MEASUREMENTS LAYOUT PLANNING IN-HOUSE FABRICATION PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION

Fabrication turns a slab or manufactured sheet into the finished pieces designed for your room.

The fabricator is responsible for interpreting the confirmed measurements, planning the pieces, creating cutouts, producing the selected edge and preparing the material for installation.

Good fabrication is not simply cutting a rectangle. Cabinets, walls, corners, sinks, appliances, overhangs, seams, slab movement, access and structural support can all change how the project should be produced.

Sondos Stone connects those decisions under one local team rather than separating the template, fabrication and installation into disconnected services.

RAW MATERIAL PROJECT LAYOUT CUSTOM PIECES INSTALLED SURFACE
“The material gets the attention. The fabrication determines whether it actually fits the room.”

Every countertop project combines a surface with dozens of physical decisions. The final result depends on how those decisions are measured, communicated and produced.

THE PRODUCTION SEQUENCE

Six connected stages.
One finished installation.

01

Project intake

Approximate measurements, cabinet plans, room photographs, material preferences, sink details, appliance information and the project address establish the starting scope.

OUTPUT Starting estimate and material direction
02

Final template

Once the cabinets and relevant project conditions are ready, the actual layout is measured. Walls, corners, cutouts, overhangs, cabinets and appliance conditions are confirmed.

OUTPUT Confirmed fabrication dimensions
03

Slab and piece planning

The project pieces are planned around available material, usable slab area, pattern direction, natural movement, cutouts, seams and access limitations.

OUTPUT Production layout and seam strategy
04

Cutting and shaping

The countertop pieces, sink openings, cooktop openings, corners, radiuses and other approved details are produced from the confirmed layout.

OUTPUT Cut countertop components
05

Edge and finish work

Exposed edges, cutout edges and visible surfaces are finished according to the selected material, edge profile and project requirements.

OUTPUT Installation-ready pieces
06

Delivery and installation

The finished pieces are transported to the project, positioned, fitted, joined at planned seams and reviewed as part of the final countertop installation.

OUTPUT Completed custom countertops

PROJECT SPECIFICATION

The details that must be decided before cutting begins.

Some decisions affect appearance. Others affect whether the countertop can be safely produced, transported and installed.

PROJECT DETAIL WHY IT MATTERS WHEN CONFIRMED
Material and color

Determines slab characteristics, pattern behavior, handling, maintenance and fabrication requirements.

Before final production
Countertop dimensions

Controls finished piece sizes, slab use, seams, overhangs and installation fit.

At final template
Sink model

The exact sink information is used to plan the opening, reveal and surrounding countertop material.

Before fabrication
Cooktop or appliance

Opening dimensions and required clearances depend on the actual selected equipment.

Before fabrication
Edge profile

Changes the finished appearance, production work and exposed edge dimensions.

Before production
Seam locations

Influenced by slab size, material movement, layout, access, handling and structural considerations.

During layout planning
Overhang and support

Long or unsupported sections may require approved structural support before installation.

At planning and template
Backsplash scope

Four-inch backsplashes and full-height slab backsplashes affect measurements, material quantity, outlets and installation order.

Before final quote

NATURAL-STONE LAYOUT

A natural slab is not a repeating wallpaper pattern.

Granite, quartzite and marble can contain veins, mineral deposits, directional movement, tonal changes and natural characteristics that continue across the slab.

A

Approve the actual slab

A sample or online image cannot represent the complete slab. The available material should be reviewed whenever possible.

B

Plan focal areas first

Islands, long sink runs and full-height backsplashes may deserve priority when deciding where the strongest movement appears.

C

Understand seam transitions

Two pieces cut from a naturally moving slab may not create a perfectly invisible or continuous pattern at every seam.

WHY IN-HOUSE FABRICATION MATTERS

Fewer handoffs.
Clearer responsibility.

ONE

The measurements and production requirements stay connected to the team responsible for making the countertops.

TWO

Questions about cutouts, seams, edges and slab use can be addressed before the finished pieces reach the jobsite.

THREE

The installation team receives pieces built around a confirmed project layout rather than generic stock dimensions.

FOUR

Homeowners, builders and designers have a local point of contact throughout the countertop portion of the project.

FABRICATION QUESTIONS

What homeowners should know before production begins.

What is countertop fabrication? +

Countertop fabrication is the process of turning the selected slab or manufactured surface into the custom pieces required for a specific project. It includes layout planning, cutting, cutouts, shaping, edge work, finishing and preparation for installation.

Does Sondos Stone fabricate countertops in-house? +

Yes. Sondos Stone provides in-house countertop fabrication and coordinates final measurements and professional installation for qualifying projects.

Can countertops be fabricated from rough measurements? +

Rough measurements can support an initial estimate, but final fabrication generally requires confirmed project dimensions after cabinets and relevant site conditions are ready.

Do I need the sink before fabrication? +

The exact sink information must be confirmed before the corresponding countertop opening is fabricated. Project-specific requirements should be reviewed with Sondos Stone.

Who decides where countertop seams go? +

Seam planning depends on slab size, material movement, project dimensions, cabinet layout, access, handling and structural considerations. The final strategy is developed during production planning.

Can I choose which part of a natural slab is used? +

Slab-layout discussions may be possible depending on the material, project and production process. Usable slab area, defects, cutouts, seams and piece sizes can limit placement.

Does fabrication include countertop installation? +

Sondos Stone provides a connected process that includes project review, final measurements, in-house fabrication and professional installation.

How do I receive a fabrication estimate? +

Send approximate measurements or cabinet plans, project photos, the installation address, material preferences, sink details, appliance information and any removal or backsplash requirements.
